The STRAT debuts new entryway sculpture 6u4d1z19 April 2019(PRESS RELEASE) -- The STRAT Hotel, Casino and SkyPod continues to rise with the unveiling of a new sculpture at the entryway on the corner of South Las Vegas Boulevard and West Bob Stupak Avenue. Titled “LOOK!,” the new addition to The STRAT was officially introduced with a ceremony earlier today. The sculpture, which is comprised of three ascending figures made of stainless steel, was created by a team of three local Las Vegas artists: Nick Stiley, who handled design and fabrication, Adin Fly, who created the artistic concept, and James Talbert, who handled CAD design and fabrication. Blake L. Sartini, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Golden Entertainment, the parent company of The STRAT, commissioned Kevin Barry Fine Art to create the sculpture to honor the iconic tower. “The STRAT is situated at the gateway to the Las Vegas Arts District, which is a testament to the tremendous creative talent we have in our own backyard,” said Sartini. “Through ‘LOOK!’ and other new artwork that has been commissioned throughout the property, we are proud to give local artists a platform to showcase their work on the Las Vegas Strip.” The three figures range in size, the smallest is eight feet tall, weighing 800 pounds; the middle figure is 11 feet and 6 inches tall, weighing 850 pounds; and the tallest stands at 15 feet tall, weighing 1,100 pounds. The heads of the sculpture reveal a view of the SkyPod and its popular attraction, SkyJump. Sartini, Styley, Fly and Talbert were ed by Chris Fiumara, vice president and general manager of The STRAT; Las Vegas City Councilman Bob Coffin; Las Vegas Councilman Cedric Crear; and John Barry, principal of Kevin Barry Fine Art, to participate in the unveiling of the sculpture. “In coming up with the origin of this impressive piece, one has to be inspired by the sheer force and scale of The STRAT Tower itself and recognize the natural tendency to raise your head and be in awe at this icon on the Las Vegas Strip,” said Barry. “This piece inspires bystanders to actually ‘LOOK!’ up, and it embodies so much more than just a super cool sculpture.” Additional pieces by local artists can be found throughout The STRAT at the newly-opened BLVD & MAIN Taphouse, View Lounge and The STRAT Café. < Gaming News 6i422i |
